AN ELDERLY housebound Swindon couple in their 80s were shocked when two youths conned their way into their home, but they left empty-handed.
The two teenagers entered the couple's home in Bridge End Road in Lower Stratton and attempted to snatch some items, but ran off.
The incident happened between 5.30pm and 6.15pm on Thursday.
PC James Martin, of Swindon CID, said: "This is a crime of cowardice in which a calculating person or persons has set to prey on the vulnerable in our community. The police are eager to speak to anyone who can help us to find and arrest the culprits.
"It is hoped that someone will recognise these persons, or may have seen them in the area that evening, particularly anyone using the nearby Vela Car Wash."
One of the suspects is a white male, aged 17 to 18, 5 foot 10 inches tall with a slight to medium build.
He was clean shaven, with a fresh complexion and wearing a dark navy blue or black woolly hat, waist length dark blue or black jacket done up to the neck and lightweight shoes or trainers
The second youth was white, aged 13 to 14, about 4 foot four inches tall, dressed in a similar fashion with a dark blue or black woolly hat. He had a pale complexion a narrow face and thin lips.
