WOOTTON Bassett are through to the final of the Dorset & Wilts Under 17 Cup after a 12-5 victory over North Dorset.
They opened the scoring with a close-range effort from talented under 16 scrum-half Simon Hutchings.
Fly-half Jon Birch kicked a superb conversion, but North Dorset came back strongly to score from a driving maul.
The decisive try arrived in the second half when good driving play by the Bassett pack, led by Rhys Cadogan, allowed centre Chris Hayle to storm over from 20 metres.
JAMES Holden's astonishing 60-metre dash gave understrength Devizes under 15 an unlikely 10-5 victory over a powerful Keynsham side.
With at least 10 players missing, Devizes fell behind to an unconverted try in the first half, but Tim Brain's try drew them level.
With time running out, No 8 Holden went blind and beat half a dozen defenders to score out wide to clinch an unlikely victory.
Brain and Holden also scored tries later in the day as they played for the county development squad against Somerset.
