CORSHAM Centre kept up the pressure on Division One leaders Colerne with a 5-0 thrashing of Wingfield on a weather-hit weekend in the Auto Business Solutions Ltd Chippenham & District Sunday League.

The game was switched from Trowbridge to Centre's Meriton Avenue home and the hosts took full advantage, Craig Gingell, Richard Boore, Matthew Ralph, Jon Bartlett and George Bentley netting.

Elsewhere, 13 games were wiped out by the poor conditions, with another six off due to clubs' being unable to raise a team.

There was a point apiece for Atworth United and Chippenham Sports & Social Club in a 2-2 stalemate.

But United will be kicking themselves after Ashley Wheeler and Stuart Holland had put them two up, Jason Bull and Alex Lowe levelling matters.

Premier Division frontrunners West Lavington were unable to raise a team for their top-of-the-table clash with reigning champions and third placed Sherston Town, the two clubs due to meet again this weekend.

Dog & Fox Ashley and Box Rovers closed the gap following their 3-3 draw.

Rovers came back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to claim their point, although the Dog hit the bar on four occasions.

Goals from Mark Robinson and Steve Roddy (2) put the Dog in control, but Tim Jefferies' hat-trick pegged them back.

All Cannings' woes continued, their 6-2 defeat at home to Corsham Cricket Club being their 11th successive defeat, leaving them four points adrift at the foot of the table.

Corsham, who had not won in four outings, raced to a 5-0 half-time lead thanks to a hat-trick from Chris Jones and goals from Neil Shardlow and a Frank Rogers penalty.

Paul Clifford completed the rout, while Cannings replied with goals from Geoff Potter and Lee Saunders.

Potterne FC slipped up for a second time in as many weeks, 5-3 at home to fellow Division Two promotion hopefuls AC Soho.

Johnny Emm and Jamie Bayes put them 2-0 up but, despite Steve Bolwell scoring late on, Marcus Young's quartet (one penalty ) and Tyrone Prades gave Soho victory.

Christian Malford took advantage of leaders Spencer Sports' postponed clash to close the gap at the top to just three points.

Their 8-0 defeat of Corsham Park Rangers extended their unbeaten run to 13 games, Scott Evans scoring four, Richard Bruce a hat-trick and Chris Pitman the other.

Sutton Benger beat Blue Circle 5-4, James Pope (4) and Nick Slade scoring the goals.

With Division Three's top two missing out both Pig & Whistle United and Sir Audley's Arms had the opportunity to move level with leaders Kings Arms.

The honours went to the Pig & Whistle with a 4-2 success, James McLaughlin and Chris Shipway fluked a late consolation, Shipway on target for Arms.

Classic FC picked up their first win for six matches, their 3-2 success over Bradstone Rovers giving them a realistic chance of avoiding relegation.

Chris Sheppard's first-half opener for Classic was wiped out by Andy Starolosky and Dave Butler put Rovers in front before Sheppard tied the scores and James Hearsay won it.

An outstanding individual performance from Steve Munday helped Trowbridge Town Supporters Club see off the challenge of a stubborn Somerford, who finally succumbed to a 4-3 defeat.

Somerford who started with 10 players took the lead through Chris Yeo before Munday squared things.

Yeo fired Somerford ahead once more only for Munday to level once again.

He struck two more after the break, and Darren Clarke's effort for Somerford was merely a consolation.

Everything remained as you were in Division Four as all of the six planned fixtures were postponed.
