A SWAN rescued from the River Ray after it was polluted with diesel, has died.
In January 10,000 litres of red diesel poured into the river from Westlea Industrial Estate.
Sue Hulbert, pictured, who runs the South West Swan Sanctuary in Swindon, said she had been called by the Environment Agency which had seen a female swan with her neck burned by the diesel.
"We got her to the sanctuary and I gave her antibiotics and charcoal to help absorb the pollution and bathed her but during the night she died," she said.
