EMPTY shoes will be laid out by Swindon's Cenotaph, representing servicemen and women who have died in the Iraqi conflict.
As well as the 85 empty pairs of shoes, the names of the dead will be read out at today's ceremony organised by the Swindon Stop the War Coalition.
The event takes place at noon at the memorial in Regent Circus.
Andy Newman, secretary of the Coalition, said: "We will be naming the dead, not only the British servicemen, but also the names of many of the American and Iraqis killed in the conflict.
"This is a mark of respect."
