AS if Wootton Bassett wasn't already one of England's hotbeds of romance, there is now a new venue in the town for a blind date.

And residents of the town in need of a matchmaker need look no further than their librarian.

This week library staff will be using their talents to help people pair up with a book, film or album of their dreams.

Customers only need to provide their requirements and the staff will pull out all the stops to help customers go home with their perfect match.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative called More to Love at Your Libraries, designed to remind people how much their local library can offer.

Chris Batt, chief executive at Museums Libraries Archives, which is organising the campaign, said: "If you're looking for a really rewarding relationship with a book there's no-one better placed to help you out than your local librarian.

"With limitless choice and unrivalled expertise, library staff can help people of all ages find their perfect type."

The Valentines promotion is running at 80 libraries across the country, including Wootton Bassett until Friday.
