MOTORISTS in Swindon face at least three weeks of traffic chaos with new road works under way.
Changes are being made to Groundwell Road, the A4289 Wootton Bassett Road, from Kingshill roundabout to the Running Horse, and on the outbound lane from the Mannington roundabout to outside the DFS store.
Hanson Construction Projects began work yesterday on resurfacing the roads.
Gavin Calthrop, spokesman for Swindon Council said: "The scheme will replace the deteriorating surface course of the roads in order to increase the life span of the carriageway and to provide a better running surface."
Work on Groundwell Road, between York Road and Drove Road, is expected to last for a week with off-peak temporary traffic lights.
The Wootton Bassett Road, from Kingshill roundabout to the Running Horse will mean a lane closure with temporary traffic lights from next Monday, February 21, to Wednesday, February 23.
The outbound section of the Wootton Bassett Road, from Mannington Roundabout to outside the DFS store will be closed on weekdays from 9.30am until 3.30pm.
