IN response to Mr R Supword of Old Town re the bad roads in his area.
The stretch of road to which he refers, from Newport Street junction to Signal Way roundabout, is not as bad, in my opinion, as Wroughton High Street from Priors roundabout, north to the traffic lights.
The Old Town road in question was smoothly surfaced a few years ago by the council, so smooth in fact that in wet conditions road accidents occurred so the surface was roughened again. The cost of this was never itemised, nor was the installation of traffic lights at the junction of Newport Street and Devizes Road and their removal later as not needed.
The point is, that road maintenance monies have been spent in his area even if R Supword's expectations have not been realised.
