TORQUAY tormentor Sammy Igoe admits he would love to spend another two years at the County Ground as he ponders life beyond the end of the current campaign.

The 'showman' says he has made it clear to Andy King that he would like to stay in Wiltshire although the manager has yet to open contract negotiations with those whose deals are up in the summer.

The 29-year-old knows budgets, finances and which division Town find themselves in for 2005-6 are all factors the manager will have to deal with but he is anxious to stay.

Igoe said: "I think this is a great club and I felt welcome as soon as I arrived here.

"We went ever so close last season and I still feel we can go one better this time.

"I'd love to stay, ideally for two years, and help the club progress. There's a great set of lads here and I'm happy to be working with a manager that I haven't fallen out with.

"That hasn't always been the case."

Igoe feels exciting times are around the corner, especially with a new stadium being pursued.

He said: "I don't imagine I'd be here to see it but I know the manager's position in the transfer market would really be strengthened by that.

"I remember Martin Allen showing me around the Madejski Stadium when Reading were trying to sign me. Believe me, things like that do influence players."

Manager Andy King said last week that winning promotion was the best way for players to ensure new deals.

Victory over Torquay United would help bring that a step closer.

Igoe is looking forward to the trip to Plainmoor, the setting for his first ever Town goal.

He was also on target with a cracker in October's 3-3 draw with the Gulls.

He said: "I've scored a couple of decent goals against Torquay, including one earlier this season.

"I'm due a goal again and I've gone close in the last couple of matches.

"Hopefully I can go even closer on Saturday."
