Wootton Bassett could have a new golf course if planning permission is granted to the Wiltshire Golf and Country Club.
The club, at Vastern, has applied to extend the course by approximately 95 acres to allow the creation of a new nine hole course.
The scheme would also include the re-design of five of the existing holes, tree planting and the creation of lakes at natural drainage points.
The club hopes to boost its current membership of 1,500 to 2,000 and to attract more juniors and newcomers to the game.
Wootton Bassett Town Council planning committee has supported the club's application which is currently being considered by North Wiltshire District Council.
If successful work could begin in mid September and take 16 weeks.
