ASSISTANT manager John Freegard heaped praise on Devizes new boy David Kilmurray as the striker helped his side to two impressive victories this week.
The former Corsham forward scored his side' second goal in the Wiltshire Senior Cup quarter final against Hellenic high flyers Trowbridge.
He also set up Jonathan Scott's opener in the cup clash and captain Brad Newman's winner in the 1-0 league win at Backwell on Tuesday night.
Freegard is delighted with the performances of his striker since his switch from the Screwfix Premier rivals.
He said: "He has made a big impact since his arrival and has given all the other players a lift.
"Mark Godley and I have managed him before so it has come as no surprise to us that he has done so well."
He hopes the current run if good form, that has seen Devizes win three games on the bounce, will continue for their visit of Screwfix Premier Division strugglers Clyst Rovers on Saturday.
The assistant manager was thrilled to see his side overcome a tough Trowbridge team and march into the semi finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.
"It's great for the club and we are delighted to go through. All credit to Trowbridge, they kept possession well."
He is not bothered about which side Devizes pull out of the hat in the draw for the next round.
"Whoever we get at this stage will be difficult to beat."
Devizes took an early first half lead thanks to a fine display of teamwork. After a good run, right back Nick Mooney sent a dangerous cross into the box.
It fell perfectly to Kilmurray, who headed back into the danger area for Scott to nod in.
The hosts killed the game off on 25 minutes, an electric exchange of passes between Newman, Mooney and Nathan Perkins gave Kilmurray space to move into.
They finished the move off with an excellent through ball for the striker to chase. His first shot was well saved by the visiting keeper but he managed to blast in the rebound.
Trowbridge came out fighting in the second period and pushed up in an attempt to reduce the deficit.
The Hellenic title contenders managed to pull one back with 20 minutes remaining.
Freegard thought the striker was miles off side but the goal was of no consequence as the home side held on and progressed to the semi-final.
The assistant was even more pleased with his side's away win at Backwell on Tuesday and considered it as the best performance of the season.
"It was a difficult, sticky pitch but the players produced the right type of football," a jubilant Freegard said.
Devizes controlled the game for most of the 90 minutes by driving the ball into the right areas.
The decisive goal came with just 30 minutes of the match gone.
Midfielder Lee Stevens produced a great through ball for striker David Lloyd to run onto.
He crossed to the back post where Kilmurray managed to hook the ball back into the centre for captain Newman to smash home from 10 yards out.
