WELSH poet Dylan Thomas's masterpiece, Under Milk Wood, is the next production at the Wharf Theatre in Devizes.
Through the use of the most lyrical, evocative language, Thomas takes us through the waking and sleeping hours of the inhabitants of one village within the cycle of one spring day.
Although originally intended as a play for voices rather than a staged piece, director Ann Walker's production, on at the canalside theatre from Friday February 25 to Saturday March 5, uses a cast of 16 to play the 60-odd roles that Thomas wrote.
Mrs Walker has chosen to mount her production to coincide with St David's Day, March 1.
She has enlisted the talents of Welsh harpist Christine Kinder to provide the background and incidental music.
Tickets for the show are on sale at Devizes Books in Sidmouth Street on (01380) 725944.
