PLANS for a pizza delivery and takeaway business at Hopton Business Park, Devizes have been submitted to Kennet District Council.

Peter and Sue Booton of Calne have put in a planning application for one of the new units at the Glenmore Business Centre.

Mr and Mrs Booton ran a pizza business in Calne for about five years until they sold it last year.

The business, called Pizzas Direct, was started in a triple garage in the couple's garden.

After three years the couple relocated the business to an industrial unit in Harris Road, Calne.

Mr Booton said: "Our business in Calne was very successful and we hope to do the same again.

"Devizes has got real potential and a growing population. I think it is a good town for our business and there isn't really anything like this in Devizes.

"We will make fresh pizzas on the premises and deliver them to customers' houses or they can collect them from us.

"The key to our success is that we are a specialist pizza company. The pizzas are made fresh every day and we make fresh salads.

"Our pizzas have different names to other pizza companies, for example, Taste of India which is predominantly tandoori and chillies, and Walk in the Garden which is vegetarian."

Mr Booton said the business, to be called Sammy-Jo's, would be open six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday.

He said a small number of staff would be taken on to work in the kitchen and to deliver pizzas.

Mr Booton said he and his wife's long term aim was to franchise the business and then open a pizza restaurant at Hopton.

He said: "Hopton Park is an ideal location for our business. It's easy to find and there is parking. Land and buildings are cheaper there than in the centre of Devizes."
