AN EXPERT in Irish studies is to give a talk about Irish migration in Swindon next week.
Dr Graham Davis, the course director of Irish Studies at Bath Spa University College, will be talking about Ireland in 19th century Britain on Wednesday, February 23 at the University of Bath in Swindon.
Irish migration is the source of much debate among historians, who discuss the Irish migrant experience in the ghetto, the hostility of host communities and the Irish contribution to life in Britain.
The lecture will explore these issues, looking both at the migrant experience in the major centres of Liverpool, Manchester, and London, but also Irish migration to Bristol, Bath and Swindon.
The lecture will take place in the main hall of the Oakfield Campus from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Entry and parking are free.
