SWINDON Town's footballers have helped a group of businessmen raise £50,000 for victims of the tsunami.
The money raised will help the Red Cross meet emergency needs as well as support longer-term development programmes.
The businessmen from Chippenham organised a concert at the town's Olympiad for 1,000 people and a golf day at Bowood Golf Course with 34 teams, including one from Swindon Town.
Maryanne Burton, of the British Red Cross, said: "The response has been overwhelming and this group of people have done a magnificent job in less than a month.
"We are very grateful to them.
"As well as our international role the British Red Cross is very active in Swindon, covering Emergency Response, First Aid at public events and Medical Loan, as well as many other projects within the community."
