SWINDON residents should start forming an orderly queue the town's best kissers have been named.

Customers at the Abbey Mead pub, in Elstree Way, puckered up to raise money for charity over the Valentine's weeks.

Men and women alike were asked to pay £1 to put on lipstick then kiss a card to be displayed on the pub's kissing wall.

Almost 100 kisses later the best male and female kisses were announced on Valentine's Day.

Martin Parfitt and Nicki Bass were judged to have planted the best smackers while barmaid Michelle Usher-Benwell and David Bowditch were the runners-up.

Claire Henderson, the co-manager at the pub said: "The winning girl's lips just looked like a perfect set of lips," she said. "And the fella's just looked so inviting like a long and seductive kiss.

"And we have a good selling point too as we can say we've got the second best kisser in town working behind the bar."

Claire was delighted with the competition and Valentine's disco, which raised £200 for the NSPCC.

"It was a really good night," she said. "At first we weren't getting too many people coming up to do it.

"Lots of the fellas were saying they wouldn't put lipstick on but a few drinks later they were queuing up to do it."
