YOUR SWINDON YOUR VERDICT: Swindon Council has been running a consultation of its own to develop its second five-year Transport Plan.
All local authorities with a responsibility for transport are required by the Department of Transport to produce a plan to set out strategies, objectives and measurable targets.
Coun Jemima Milton said: "This Local Transport plan will respond to all the concerns that have been raised in this thorough consultation. We have worked really hard to take on board all the views of local people and visitors to the borough."
Of greatest concern for both now and for the future (78 per cent of respondents) was the impact on the road network of traffic growth resulting from all the houses and other development planned for Swindon.
Over half around 55 per cent of respondents felt that speeding drivers were of concern in their area and 34 per cent of respondents reported concerns related to schools the school run, speeding, 20mph zones and parking around schools.
Although satisfaction with Swindon's local bus services was reported at 68 per cent, around 20 per cent of respondents also felt that evening services were poor and 10 per cent felt that Sunday services were poor.
In response to the question of what the council should be doing to address the issues being highlighted, 81 per cent of respondents gave "encouraging greater use of buses" a mark of eight out of ten or higher.
"Managing the number of cars entering the central areas of Swindon" was given a mark of eight out of ten or higher by 67 per cent of respondents.
