LIKE Neil Martyn I was shocked by the proposed swingeing increases in care prices at Fessey House, where my mother in-law spent her last days.
A great many of these people will have given a lifetime's service to this country and many will have served in the Armed Forces.
Why are our disadvantaged citizens being treated this way? Is it to just to put a few extra pence into the pockets of everyone else, including those who have company and state pensions, plus around £400 tax free from Central Government?
This might be fairness for certain pensioners but less capable ones are paying for it.
On the question of the 15 per cent increase in council tax brought in when Kevin Small was leader, JR Preece should be asking the Tories what has happened to this money as they are the ones who profited from it.
The electorate chose them to run this town as a direct result of that increase, which had been decided upon because people were consulted on the issue following threats by the Tories to actually close libraries if in power.
