SWINDON went down to their Newbury visitors in this friendly encounter.
The home side fielded a number of fringe, second-team and development squad players and for that part it proved a useful exercise.
Newbury opted to play into the strong wind in the first half and Swindon were unable to capitalise on the conditions.
The visitors rattled up two successive tries and then a third, interception score made it 19-0 to Newbury at the half-time break.
With the conditions in their favour in the second period, Newbury simply pinned Swindon in their own half.
Some good defence by Swindon kept the visitors down to one score but the brightest point for the home side were the performances of 17-year-old trio Danny Way, Simon Blythe and Sean Thomas.
