GAZETTE & HERALD: TWO events are being held at St Cyriac's Church in Lacock next month to raise awareness of the positive impact of Fairtrade and tackle the ambiguities created by other products in the market place.
Both events are being held as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.
From 10am on Saturday, March 12 there will be various stations around St Cyriac's Church, where visitors can fill in a Fairtrade survey, view the Make Poverty History slideshow, add thoughts to the display, taste Fairtrade products and watch a video about Fairtrade growers.
There will also be a competition asking people to 'Express Yourself and Help to Make Poverty History'. Entries can be anything from flower arrangements, collages and cakes to lyrics and paintings centring around the theme of fair trade and thoughts about poverty, such as the need for clean water, roads and education.
Judging will take place on the day of the event at 2pm in the church.
Prizes will be awarded for the age categories eight and under, nine to 15, and 16 and over.
The following day in the afternoon visitors can visit displays and take part in a special Fairtrade Service with meditation and prayer from 4.30pm.
