GAZETTE & HERALD: Teenager Edward Daley has been flipping pancakes to raise money towards a month-long African adventure.
Edward, 17, of Cepen Park South in Chippenham, is trying to raise £2,900 to join Camp Kenya in June 2006.
An A level student at Sheldon School, Edward is studying biology, physics, chemistry and maths.
He hopes to read medicine at university but in the summer, before his undergraduate days begin, he plans to build classrooms, help sustainable tourism and see some of Africa too.
"Basically, Camp Kenya is giving people the opportunity to help build classrooms in villages in Kenya, as well as help sustain their tourism, while also being able to experience Kenya on days off," he said.
"We will be helping to sustain the tourism by making elephant dung paper which the people can sell, and helping with the education of the children by building sheltered classrooms for them to learn in."
Edward has already received a pledge of £500 from local computer consultancy Seven Peas, and he raised £40 when he won a pancake race in Chippenham High Street on Shrove Tuesday. He is also organising other fundraisers and working part time.
