A drunk addicted to Jack Daniels whisky has spent another day in prison. Stephen Lee, 40, of no fixed address, was found drunk in Westbury talking about drinking Jack Daniels on Thursday.
Nicky Wootton, prosecuting in Chippenham Magistrates' Court on Friday, said police officers went to Silbury Close, Westbury last week to find him drunk on a public footpath.
Andrew Watts-Jones, defending, said Lee had appeared
in court on numerous occasions.
"He was here five days a week up to Christmas and his
only topic of conversation is Jack Daniels," he said.
"It's the first thing he said to me, that it was the Jack Daniels that has got hold of him. His intellectual and physical function revolves around Mr Daniels.
"The usual result is that he is remanded in the cells for a day."
He said Lee used to live in a gar- den shed in Silbury Close, near where he was found drunk, but was now sleeping rough.
Lee pleaded guilty to being drunk in a public place. He was ordered to spend one day in custody.
