16569/5MEMBERS of women's guilds across Wiltshire got together on Saturday to celebrate one group's 50th birthday.
An anniversary lunch held by the Melksham Towns-women's Guild at Melksham House was attended by 100 women from 12 guilds.
Guest of honour was Moyra Livesey, best known as the original WI calendar girl Miss May her WI's calendar sparked the smash hit film
starring Julie Walters.
Mrs Livesey entertained the audience for an hour with tales about making the calendar and how it inspired the making of Calendar Girls.
Melksham guild chairman Ivy Dixon said: "She told us about the things you don't usually get to hear about, like her comments about different people she met." She said it was a proud moment for the guild to be celebrating its 50th anniversary. New members are always welcome and can contact secretary Trisha Hoy on (01225) 704805.
