James Simpson-Daniel has warned Gloucester they need to be "100 times better'' than their last dismal display as they host West Country rivals Bath in the Zurich Premiership tomorrow (3pm).

Bath are struggling with a horrendous injury crisis, flanker Andy Beattie the latest to be ruled out with a broken leg.

But Gloucester slumped to a miserable 38-9 defeat against 14-man Harlequins in their last match a match the players have been forced to watch again on video ahead of tomorrow's 13,000 sell-out clash.

And wing Simpson-Daniel said: "The video of the Harlequins game certainly brought back some evil memories, and there have been a lot of harsh but true words spoken this week about that.

"The analysis has been totally fair and we have all accepted it and moved on.

"We have gone out in training with a real edge and we are looking forward to getting back out there.

"We know what we are up against and we have to make sure we are 100 times better than we were against Harlequins.''

He added: "One performance won't put it all right, but we are ready to knuckle down and give it our best.

"We have not met the standards we set ourselves and for that reason it's our biggest game for a long, long time.''

Gloucester's Phil Vickery is ready and waiting for a good old-fashioned West Country derby when Bath visit Kingsholm in front of a 13,000 crowd on Saturday.

Tighthead prop Phil Vickery meanwhile is eyeing up a potentially decisive clash with England colleague Matt Stevens.

Vickery said: "Matt's a good player and he has the potential to be a world-class prop forward. He's highly regarded in the England set-up.

"Bath have got a solid game plan and you have to give the management and players credit as they've had some good results.

"We know they'll come at us, we don't expect anything else.''

Bath meanwhile, could include new Italian signing Ramiro Pez for the Kingsholm clash.

The fly-half has been signed as cover for Olly Barkley and Chris Malone, who knows victory for either side could hand them a crucial lift in the last weeks of the season.

Malone said: "It is Gloucester versus Bath and they have every reason to be up for the game.

"It is a vital game as far as the Premiership table is concerned, a win for them puts them nearer the top and a win for us puts us nearer the top three.''
