A PLANNED doctors' surgery on a Trowbridge estate could be replaced by a pub if a new planning application gets the go-ahead.
Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries has applied to build a pub on land next to Hackett Place, Paxcroft Mead, despite commercial operators Marshgate Developments signing an agreement last year for medical facilities there.
Ward councillor Ernie Clark said: "I don't know why they are doing this when the section 106 agreement allocates the land for a doctors' surgery."
The land was originally allocated for a pub but the agreement was later varied to allow land earmarked for a surgery to be used for shops, with medical facilities then replacing the proposed pub.
Cllr Clark carried out a survey of people living in the area to ask what they would like to see there and got one response in favour of a pub, with 30-40 replies favouring medical facilities.
