16583A 64-YEAR-OLD widow is planning a trek in one of the remotest spots in the world to raise funds for Dorothy House.
Maureen Kesby, of Greenway Gardens, Trowbridge, will spend 10 days trekking in the Grand Canyon after helping to raise thousands of pounds for the hospice in Winsley, which cared for her husband Barry during his battle with cancer.
The former shop assistant hopes to raise interest as well as funds and is urging Wiltshire Times readers to join her on the trip.
She said: "At the moment I'm the only one from this area who is booked for September. If there were one or two local people who could do it then it would be great as we could bounce one or two ideas off against each other.
"I like walking holidays as there is a sense of achievement at the end. Because the Grand Canyon is so big, it's really going to stretch me."
A spokesman for the London-based Charity Challenge, which is organising the trip, said: "Trekkers will hike over 95kms around the north and south rim of the Canyon via Indian reservations.
"This trek is a challenge for all who undertake it."
