AIRPSPRUNG gained a runaway win over Lavington in their inter-club event fished on Sunday on the Avon at Barton Farm, taking the top five individual places.
Patrick Jay, of Trowbridge, won with a mixed catch of bream and small chub weighing 9lb 9oz, taken on feeder-fished red maggots on an 18 hook. Adrian Parrish, of Trowbridge, was second with a mixed catch of roach and skimmers weighing 5lb 15oz, also taken on feeder-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
Similar tactics gave third prize to Steve Green, of Trowbridge, with an all-roach catch weighing 5lb 4oz.
Other placings: 4 Richard Stainer, Trowbridge, 5lb 3oz; 5 Roger Green, Trowbridge, 3lb 10oz; 6 Graham Pearce, Lavington, 2lb 12oz 8dm.
Competitors enjoyed top class sport in the Chippenham open match fished on Sunday on the Avon at Chippenham where bream fed well.
Top spot went to Lobbys matchman Dave Clapton, with an all-bream catch weighing 23lb 8oz, taken on feeder-fished worm on an 18 hook.
Steve Saunders, of Bath, was a close runner-up with a bream catch weighing 20lb 2oz 8dm, also taken on feeder-fished worm on an 18 hook. Tony Randall, of Swindon, was third with a catch of skimmers weighing 15lb, taken on pole-fished casters on an 18 hook.
Other placings: 4 Jason O'Dell, Wootton Bassett, 14lb 8oz; 5 Steve Bull, Chippenham, 13lb 8oz; 6 Adrian Reeves, Chippenham, 11lb 13oz.
The Wednesday open match at Ivy House produced mixed sport. Army matchman Harry Myers won with an all-carp catch weighing 33lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished soft pellets on a 14 hook. Runner-up was Veals matchman Chris Derrick with a carp catch of 22lb 4oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook.
Elick Payne, of Chippenham, was third with a mixed bag of 17lb 6oz and Ivy House matchman Steve Jones was fourth with a mixed bag weighing 9lb 12oz.
The Wilts Angling Open match fished on Wednesday at Woodlands Views was won by Pete Neate, of Holt, won with an all-carp catch weighing 25lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook. John Evens, of Trowbridge, was second with a carp catch weighing 24lb, taken on pole-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
Dave Bancroft, of Trowbridge, was third with a carp catch weighing 21lb, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook.
Other placings: 4 Mark Evens, Trowbridge, 20lb 12oz; 5 Paul Cooper, Melksham, 15lb 8oz; 6 Paul Crook, Melksham, 14lb 12oz.
High winds made conditions difficult in the Wilts Angling Open match at Landsend Fishery on Sunday
Short-pole tactics were best and Mick Gunning, of Trowbridge, won with a carp catch of 26lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook. Landsend matchman Mike Duckett was second with a carp catch of 21lb 13oz taken on pole fished pellets on a 14 hook. Pete Neate, of Holt, was third with a carp catch of 19lb, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn on a 14 hook.
Other placings: 4 Graham Potter, Trowbridge, 18lb 7oz; 5 Martin Barrett, Trowbridge, 12lb 12oz; 6 Paul Cooper, Melksham, 10lb 8oz.
