Ref. 16588-2A SWINDON worker who survived a 200ft rock-climbing fall will run a gruelling 40-mile night-time race to raise money for people suffering from head injuries.
Colin Watts, who works at Intergraph, was lucky to survive a rock-climbing fall in north Wales two years ago, which left him with serious head injuries.
Next month the 40-year-old will compete in the High Peak Challenge around the Derwent Watershed to raise money for head injury charity Headway.
His rock climbing accident left him unconscious in hospital for four weeks, with head injuries, a broken wrist and broken pelvis.
Mr Watts, of Whitley, near Melksham, hopes to raise £2,000 for Headway by competing in the gruelling event on March 4 with three friends from the Swindon Mountaineering Club.
"I'm doing this to help Headway out. I am lucky to be able to do this and I want to raise money for people who have not been as fortunate," he said. Anyone who wants to sponsor Mr Watts can contact him in the evenings on 01225 702938.
