Swindon Council has joined up with the Government's Big Green Boiler Scheme to offer advice on how to save money on heating your home.
The council says there are a number of ways that people can save energy and money that will cost nothing and will help the environment.
There is a list of top ten tips residents are being advised to adopt.
They are:
Turn off all the lights when you leave a room
Don't leave the TV on standby
Close the curtains at night
Keep living rooms at about 21C
lOnly boil enough water for your needs when you boil a kettle
Keep the lids on saucepans when cooking
Take showers rather than baths
Use low temperatures on wash cycles
Make sure your hot water is set at 60C
Don't site your fridge or freezer close to a radiator or cooker.
Through the Big Green Boiler Scheme you can also buy energy saving gas and oil condensing boilers at a discounted price.
