GETTING back to basics was the order of the day for nearly 100 children who spent a day at Lower Shaw Farm.
The activity centre was open for half-term fun on two days this week.
And the arts and crafts sessions were fully booked.
Pancake making and nature treks were just some of the activities on offer to the youngsters, aged between six and 13.
Matt Holland, co-organiser of the activity day said: "Many families and children like to do something which is fun but gives them the chance to learn.
"This was an opportunity to be creative and to learn new skills."
The children were also out in the fresh air helping to build a path around the garden, make birdfeeders and harvest vegetables to make soup.
Mr Holland said: "The children gained a lot of pleasure from very simple things like pulling dirty leeks out of the ground."
Children ended the day sitting around a campfire.
