A SWINDON man who worked for 41 years in an electrical components factory in the town died from industrial disease.
That was the verdict at an inquest in Swindon.
Ivor Brown died at his Upper Stratton home in September, aged 76. Only weeks earlier he had been diagnosed as having lung and liver disease.
But coroner David Masters said that a significant contributory factor was asbestos exposure.
He said: "He had been exposed to asbestos over a long period and on the balance of probabilities, this happened in the workplace."
Mr Brown began work at Plessey Resistors on Cheney Manor industrial estate in 1952.
In 1969 he was appointed facilities works manager.
His work involved maintaining facilities such as plumbing and air conditioning.
His widow, Iris, said he had never mentioned anything about exposure to asbestos.
But a post mortem examination showed the effects of asbestos on his lungs.
