SWINDON has more jobseekers than average.
Figures released by the Office of National Statistics for mid January show while the national average is 1.6 per cent of the working population on a Jobseeker's Allowance, the figure for Swindon is 1.9 per cent.
It makes up 2.5 per cent of the eligible working male population, and 1.2 per cent of the female population and totals 2,156 people.
However, it's a figure that has dropped in Swindon since a year ago.
And looking at the region by parliamentary constituency, there are proportionately fewer jobseekers in north Swindon than south Swindon.
The Salisbury district council area scored the best in the south west, with just 0.6 per cent of the working population on the dole.
