76084-35RESIDENTS in an elderly people's home have raised more than £1,000 for charity.
The 24 pensioners who live at Heberden House, Bath Road, in Cricklade organised a host of events to collect £1050 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Warden Silvia Osborne, 55, said: "We started raising the money in November.
"We've done all sorts of things, a raffle, a tombola and a cake sale.
"Everyone here thinks it's such a good cause. I suggested it to them and they were more than happy.
"To think that they don't get funding from the government when they must have to go out to some horrific things is awful.
"Everybody worked so hard to help."
Heberden's oldest resident Annie Davis, who is 96, was happy to do her bit.
She said: "It's a very good cause and it was nice of Silvia to arrange everything for us.
"The Wiltshire Air Ambulance do difficult work and we enjoyed helping them very much. It's good to do these things."
