Bowood House is a magnificent Georgian mansion set in 2,000 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds.
An architectural gem set in gardens designed by Capability Brown, Bowood is an ideal destination for the visitor seeking history, tranquillity, beauty and adventure.
Complete with tumbling cascade, lakeside temple and grotto, the grounds of Bowood offer a fantasy landscape that is an oasis of peace.
And for children, the adventure playground, complete with wooden galleon, death-drop slide and challenging tree-top walks, offers a day of energetic fun.
The house, which was built in 1720, was bought by the 2nd Earl of Shelburne in 1754.
Today Bowood is the home of the Earl of Shelburne, son of the 8th Marquess of Lansdowne, the first in his family to make the house his permanent home.
Bowood is open from April to October every year and and, from late April to early June, Bowood's Rhododendron Walks are open to the public.
