Little Richard appeared at the Eddie Cochran Festival last yearThe rock'n'roll era of the 1950s is brought back to life every year at the three-day Eddie Cochran Festival in Chippenham.
Collectors bring their cars and costumes to relive the glory days of rock'n'roll.
Eddie Cochran died following a car crash on Rowden Hill in Chippenham in 1960 and his fans decided to set up a festival in his memory.
The first festival took place in 1995 and featured star bands and performers such as Marty Wilde, Bobby Cochran (Eddie's nephew) and Jim Sullivan.
A memorial to Eddie Cochran, best known for his chart hit Three Steps to Heaven, has been erected at the side of the road where the accident took place.
The memorial has become a place of pilgrimage for many of the festival goers.
Last year, at the tenth Eddie Cochran Festival, rock legend Little Richard wowed an audience of around 6,000 with a lively show.
He said flying from the USA to Chippenham was his tribute to Eddie, whom he had met on tour in Australia.
Despite financial difficulties following the festival last year, organiser John Knight said the festival will go on in 2005 and is planned for September 23 to 25.
"We had a fantastic weekend last year, and the main thing now is to carry on and fund raise so we can pay off our debts," he said.
