SWINDON 2nd gained the upper hand in their Dorset & Wilts One North derby at Supermarine as a late score from scrum-half Nuno Pinto-Dias clinched a 10-7 success.
In perfect conditions both teams attempted to entertain.
But with local pride at stake, the match was always likely to be tight.
Swindon started the strongest and pressure through both forwards and backs resulted in an early penalty for Scott Buchanon.
This appeared to wake up Supermarine though and it was only last-ditch tackling that stopped the home side from scoring.
On the stroke of half-time Swindon lost a man to the sin-bin and the pressure eventually told as Supermarine crossed the line.
Inside centre Rich McEwen crashed through to go over and Jimmy Hodge converted.
That looked to be enough until five minutes from time.
Portuguese scrum-half Pinto-Dias broke free from the halfway to score under the posts and Buchanon again converted to hand Swindon victory.
Elsewhere in the division, the gap between the top and bottom of the table was graphically illustrated.
Calne thumped their hosts Cricklade 46-0, but that paled into insignificance compared to leaders Corsham's 101-0 romp against Hungerford.
Meanwhile, Marlborough are just one match from relegation after being deducted two more points for failing to raise a side against Cooper-Avon Tyres.
