POLICE believe a violent gang may be behind two recent attacks in Park South. And acting Insp Ian Stevenson has warned people walking home alone to be on their guard.
He said: "People in that area late at night should take a bit more care.
"If they have any worries they should contact us and we will investigate.
"It's something that we will be concentrating our patrols on."
At 11.30pm on February 18 a man was walking home alone in the vicinity of Cranmore Avenue when he was approached from behind and knocked to the ground.
The attackers, who are believed to be male, said nothing but as the victim lay on the floor two men kicked him while a third searched his pockets.
The suspects then ran off empty handed.
Police believe the attack is linked to a robbery on February 20 when a man was walking alone at midnight, along Priory Road towards Cavendish Square.
The victim walked past three men and as he got near Priory Road doctor's surgery he was attacked from behind.
One of the men
punched him in the side of the face, knocking him to the floor.
As he fell both his mobile phones fell from his pockets and one of the attackers picked them up.
As he got to his feet one of the men demanded money.
He told them he did not have any and the three ran off in the direction of Cranmore Avenue.
The first man is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 11ins, of skinny build, with short brown hair and was wearing a hooded red sweatshirt, dark trousers and black trainers.
The second was white, in his early 20s, 6ft, of skinny build.
The third was white, in his early 20s, 5ft 11ins and was the skinniest of the three men.
It is believed one of the two was wearing a blue and black sports jacket with a white horizontal line dividing the two colours.
Anyone with any information about either of the incidents should contact Swindon police on 01793 528111.
