A GROUP of pensioners is still without a cook for the popular Freshbrook lunch club.
Gillian Russan, the present cook, will hang up her apron for the final time next Monday and the Food And Friends Club still does not have a replacement.
The group, which meets each Monday in Freshbrook's Community Centre, caters for about 44 people.
Treasurer Lorraine Webb said: "We are looking for a retired school cook or someone who is used to catering for a lot of people."
For £2.40 the pensioners are served with a two-course meal, which is often a roast with a hot pudding and tea and coffee.
There is also a team of six to seven volunteers who are on hand to help prepare the meals, serve drinks and wash up.
The club means a lot to the pensioners, all from West Swindon, and they look forward to their weekly get-together.
If you think you are up to the challenge and want to volunteer a few hours of your time to the club call Lorraine Webb at the Community Centre on 01793 871017 or Pam Pixton at West Swindon's Link Centre on 01793 465462.
