Artist's ImpressionPOLICE are hunting a burglar who broke into the home of two women and violently assaulted one of them. The man entered a house in the Beatrice Street area of Swindon, at about 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 15.

He threatened the two residents and punched one of them in the face, leaving her with a fractured cheekbone.

In spite being extremely shocked by the ordeal, the women have been able to help police produce an artist's impression of the man in a bid to interview him.

The intruder stole four mobile hones, a handbag

containing a substantial amount of cash and a number of other items.

WPC Andrena Rhodes of Swindon CID said: "The victim was assaulted and it's quite nasty.

"I'm concerned about who he is and that he is still out there.

"This was a violent incident and we're very keen to trace the man as quickly as possible.

"The victim is quite shaken and thinking about moving away.

"She's quite traumatised. You don't expect this sort of thing to happen."

The suspect is described as being in his mid 30s, of Mediterranean appearance, with short dark hair, dark brown eyes and with facial stubble.

He was wearing a leather jacket, black top and jeans.

The 41-year-old victim was taken to the Great Western Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Police said that both women were shaken by their ordeal.

The police are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the man or saw a man fitting

his description in the vicinity of Beatrice Street or Cricklade Road area around the time of the incident.
