WHILE many people wish to see smoking banned in pubs there is a large proportion who do not.
Officially 25 per cent of the population still smoke and their rights are being steam-rollered.
There is very real evidence that pubs, especially, suffer a great loss of income when smoking is banned in them.
A Kent pub has recently reversed its ban due to a drop in customers visiting its premises. This issue should be left to freedom of choice if you do not want to drink or work in a smoky pub choose one where there is a ban or segregated areas, but don't make smokers suffer with a total ban. There should be tolerance on both sides.
I am an ex-smoker who works in the tobacco industry.
