GAZETTE & HERALD: THE story of the old school at Pound Pill, Corsham is being researched by North Wiltshire District Council, but it has run into trouble because there are so few photographs of the building.
The school has a number of buildings listed as being of historic interest. It was founded in 1839 with the building of the British School, but capacity was increased in 1895 when a new school designed by Sir Harold Brakespeare.
Usually research would include a study of photographs taken over the years, but very few photographs exist in the archives documenting its history.
Staff in the council's environment, design and estates team are appealing to Corsham residents to help by
loaning any photographs they may have. They say it will help them build up a record of the use of the buildings.
Photographs showing the British School together with those showing the interior would be particularly useful. All photographs will be returned.
