RESIDENTS and councillors are concerned about cars blocking up Cliff Road and Silver Street in Sherston.
Both residential roads are narrow, but with cars parking on either side access has become even more difficult.
Following complaints to the county council double yellow lines have been painted down one side of Silver Street, but some residents are still concerned about access for emergency vehicles.
Ms Val Cushing, who lives in Cliff Road, said an ambulance had been called to a house in Silver Street but had been unable to get through.
She said the ambulance crews had to carry a woman because they were unable to get through to her house.
She said: "We have terrible trouble and I worry that a fire engine or an ambulance would not be able to reach Cliff Road.
"Sometimes we have lorries coming past to the new homes being built and everything gets stuck.
"There's a couple opposite who have just had twins who are now going to move.
"I'm sure it's not the only reason but she cannot park near her house and she has to lug all the equipment and the twins all the way down the street to get to her property."
Ms Cushing said she had seen people park in front of no parking signs and in front of her neighbours' garage where a disability scooter is parked.
She said residential parking or a car park in Sherston would help.
"A residential parking permit would be wonderful but the problem is someone would move into a cottage and have two or three cars and the problem would be back."
Parish councillor Cilla Liddington acknowledged there was a parking problem in Sherston.
She said: "These are two quite narrow roads leading off the High Street and in the evening the parking is diabolical. As a parish council we have always had concerns that emergency vehicles cannot get through.
"Yellow lines have been put down but it does not seem to make much difference.
A spokesperson from Wiltshire County Council said a residential parking application would be considered.
