WILTSHIRE LEAGUE: NEW College's 2-1 defeat at Bromham could have ruined the Premier Division title chances of the Swindon side.
In a tight first 45 minutes a header from Bromham skipper Tom Paget was all that separated the sides at the break.
Bromham added a second from a disputed penalty soon after the start of the second half, the home side's young striker Tom Slater was adjudged to have been given a shove in the penalty area and Paget stepped up to convert the spot kick.
The College pulled a goal back with a long range effort from Steve Dixey but their chances of a comeback were ruined when Dave Pratt was sent off for a second bookable offence for kicking the ball away.
College boss Pete Horwat was none too pleased with the penalty and the second yellow card but thought the red card to Metcalfe was fully justified.
He said: "I know we are going through a bit of a bad patch but the commitment is there and we are still a decent side.
"It's up to us to roll our sleeves up and get back on the winning path."
Bradford Town took over the leadership following their 2-1 victory over visitors AFC Stratton.
The home side took the lead from a penalty after 15 minutes when defender Mike Little was pushed in the area and Tom Pang scored from the spot.
Steve Roddy added a second to give Bradford a healthy lead at the break.
In a much closer second half a strong cross was sliced into his own net by Bradford defender Mark Robinson to put Stratton back into the game but an equaliser didn't arrive.
Goals from Marcus Wallen and Simon Drewitt gave Devizes a 2-0 away win at Malmesbury, Nick Fielden and Rikki Summers netted for Calne in their 2-1 win at Shrewton and two goals in each half from Jamie Bradley, Gary Spence, Gerard O'Prey and Simon Alford enabled Westbury to run out 4-1 winners at Marlborough.
Junior One leaders Down Ampney were held to a 0-0 draw by Ferndale Rodbourne and Westside moved to within three points of second-placed Wroughton with a 1-0 win over Stratton Rovers Dave Rendell scoring.
Blyskawica beat Minety 10-0, Dave Jones scored six, Miec Wojewodka a hat-trick and Pete Cahill got one.
Two goals from James Cornfield and one fron Steve Titchener gave Aldbourne a 3-1 win at Cricklade with Ed Jose scoring for the home side.
Two goals from Craig Shand and one from Kamal Miah gave Swindon Asians a 3-2 win over Lower Stratton
There was a cracking game at Blunsdon in the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, the home side were trailing 3-1 at the break to visitors AFC Stratton Reserves but in a rousing second half they equalised a couple of minutes into injury time and went on to score four in extra time to run out 7-3 winners.
Steve Steward, Mark Langford and Scott Rouse for Stratton and Nick Grifffiths (2), Craig Green, Ian Rosewell, Pete Griffiths, Martin Stratford and Greg Payne for Blunsdon.
Junior Two leaders Abbey Rodbourne gained a 4-1 success over visitors Bromham Reserves thanks to goals from Pete Parsons (2), Barry Armstrong and Brian Coyne.
Castle Coombe found themselves a goal down to AFC Rodbourne scored by Vince McMackin but rallied to win 4-1 Jamie Winks and Rob Etherington scoring a brace each.
Third-placed Pinehurst beat Stratton St Margaret 5-2. Roger Mundy (2), Shane Davies, Liam Preedy and Arron Welland were on target.
Westlecott returned to form with a 4-1 win over Chippenham United thanks to goals from Tom Griffin, Phil Lomax, Paul Farrell and Johan Sutton.
Wroughton scored all four goals in their 3-1 win over Blunsdon United Reserves with Richard Poulton netting a hat-trick at the right end and Gareth Adams at the wrong end.
