GAZETTE & HERALD: SNOOKER giant, Stephen Lee, will be attending the official opening Calne's new snooker club tonight.
Trowbridge-based Mr Lee, who was ranked number 12 in the world before the UK Masters tournament last week, will be opening the centre at 6pm along with Lucy Hemmings, widow of actor David Hemmings.
The youngsters, all pupils at John Bentley School, have now completed the hard work.
Together with a select group of adults, they set out in July to open the hall in empty offices in Wood Street, equipped with a snooker tables and entertainment for the town's young people.
They will now run the centre and have said it will be a memorial to actor David Hemmings, who lived in the town and supported youth projects.
Chairman of the Make or Break snooker club, Luke Jones, 17, said: "It's great to have someone of the calibre of Stephen Lee taking an interest. It's going to be amazing having him here.
"This centre is going to provide facilities for the youth that they have not had in the town before."
