PUPILS from Southbroom Junior School in Devizes helped to nominate the best children's books for two prestigious awards.
Each year librarians in Wiltshire nominate their favourite books and seek the views of youngsters.
This year the views of pupils at Southbroom Junior together with Fitzmaurice Primary and Christchurch Primary schools, both in Bradford on Avon were sought.
Following a selection day held at Devizes Library earlier this month the two nominations for the Carnegie Medal are Looking for JJ by Anne Cassidy and Dumb Creatures by Jeanne Willis.
The two nominations for the Kate Greenaway Medal are Dougal's Deep-Sea Diary by Simon Bertram and One More Sheep by Russell Ayto and Mij Kelly.
Judges at the Chartered Institute of Librarians and Information Professionals will consider Wiltshire's nominations together with nominations from across the country and draw up two shortlists from which two winners will be selected in July.
