POLICE are investigating how two men arrested after a car chase near Marlborough were in possession of what officers described as a large sum of money.
Around midnight on Saturday police chased a metallic blue Audi from Marlborough to Rockley.
The driver was a 37-year-old man who gave a Cardiff address, but is known to have lived previously in Winterbourne Bassett.
He failed a breath test and was later charged with driving with excess alcohol, no insurance and no driving licence.
He also faces three similar charges after being stopped by police in Winterbourne Monkton on January 25.
He is due to appear before magistrates in Devizes on March 8.
A second man in the car, a 44-year- old from Ramsbury, was arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug.
He was bailed pending further police investigation.
A police spokesman said after the car was stopped at Rockley officers searched it.
They found a large sum of money" and also 28 grammes of cannabis resin.
Police would not confirm reports that the amount of cash recovered was in excess of £9,000.
The spokesman said officers were now looking into other matters involving both men.
