HEALTH campaigner Russell Hawker is urging his fellow Westbury councillors to increase the pressure for a second doctors' surgery in the town.
Cllr Hawker hopes Westbury Town Council will back the motion he has tabled for the meeting on March 7.
The motion states: "This council recognises the increasing need in Westbury for a second doctors' practice to give the growing population freedom of choice and improved service. It urges the West Wiltshire Primary Care Trust to give this increased priority."
His motion also says the council should be "concerned" about the difficulties patients face in obtaining doctors' appointments at the existing Eastleigh Surgery. It urges the PCT and the West Wiltshire Patient and Public Involvement Forum to ensure the problem is resolved "without delay" and update the council on progress.
