MATRAVERS School pupil Jamie Davey is getting on his bike to help support the tsunami relief effort.
Jamie, 13, is raising money for Wiltshire-based Hope and Homes for Children charity, which is caring for youngsters orphaned and abandoned by the disaster.
The teenager, who lives in Westbury Leigh, is asking Wiltshire Times readers to sponsor his 100-mile cycle ride along the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath. He is riding from Bristol to Reading on April 3.
Jamie said: "After the events of the tsunami disaster in Asia it made me feel I should do my bit to help sort it out. I chose Hope and Homes because they help children find homes and have a better future.
"It was a hard job to choose what to do. I love to cycle so I thought cycling along the canal would be a good experience.
"I am hoping for local companies to sponsor me and I would like you to publicise this so local companies can contact me."
To sponsor Jamie, contact him on (01373) 300743.
