WILTSHIRE'S housing services for vulnerable people have been rated as good according to a new Audit Commission report.
The Audit Commission, an independent watchdog responsible for ensuring public money is spent economically and effectively, gave the Supporting People Programme two stars out of three.
The programme is a partnership between Wiltshire County Council, the four district councils, three primary care trusts and the probation service. The report also stated it has promising prospects for improvement.
Mike Hewitt, chairman of the Wiltshire Supporting People Partnership Board, said: "The Supporting People Partnership in Wiltshire is committed to working with others to provide flexible support services to people in our county who need them.
"We are delighted the hard work of all involved in the programme has been recognised by the Audit Commission."
Clair Wheeler, Supporting People co-ordinator for Wiltshire, said: "We are pleased the Audit Commission has acknowledged our achievements to date. We will be working with our partners and service users to implement the Audit Commission's recommendations and to work towards continuous improvement in all areas of the Supporting People programme."
