IMPROVING standards in the care sector across the county will be highlighted at a conference next month.
The Care Providers Today 2005 meeting will feature speakers from organisations involved in providing or improving the training of staff in the sector.
Presentations will be made to successful NVQ candidates from across Wiltshire who have taken part in programmes to improve their knowledge and skills.
Awards will be made to care workers from Wiltshire and Swindon, including foster carers and people who work in residential homes for the elderly.
The event will be held at the Corn Exchange, in Devizes, at 9.30am on Wednesday.
A number of other awards will be made on the day, including a special award in memory of Jackie Copp, a valued member of the NVQ team who died last year.
Judy Seager, Wiltshire County Council's cabinet member for adult care, said: "This event gives us a chance to recognise the achievements of care staff in Wiltshire, and how training has been used to boost their skills and knowledge.
"The conference is one way of raising awareness of how training can be used to improve standards in the care sector."
